After 22 years of marriage, Arcade Fire members Win Butler and Régine Chassagne publicly announced their separation on Instagram on Thursday night (October 30). “After a long and loving marriage, Win & Régine have decided to separate,” reads their joint statement. “They continue to love, admire and support each other as they co-parent their son.” Married in 2003, the couple endured public scrutiny in 2022 when Butler faced multiple allegations of emotional abuse, sexual misconduct, and manipulation. Butler admitted to a series of extramarital affairs, but denied that any of the relationships were nonconsensual, while Chassagne stood by him at the time. Arcade Fire was the surprise Album of the Year Grammy winners for their 2010 record, The Suburbs, and released their most recent project, Pink Elephant, in May 2025. Despite the former couple’s personal split, the announcement states that, “Their bond as creative soulmates will endure, as will Arcade Fire. The band send their love and look forward to seeing you all on tour soon.” (Rolling Stone)
