The Knot is back with a vengeance.

It had been about four years since .5 The Grey Chapter had been released, but we got a taste of new music back in October with an easter egg in the lyrics of “All Out Life.” One of the main lines in the song is “We are not your kind,” which was revealed as the album title for Slipknot‘s forthcoming record due out in August. The funny thing about that is that “All Out Life” doesn’t appear on the track listing. Along with the album announcement, we got our first look at the new masks and the new single “Unsainted,” which you can hear on Sunday night inside The VORTX.

With a new record on the way and a new single out comes a press tour. Slipknot began that tour last night (May 17th) on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing both the new single “Unsainted” and the previously released track “All Out Life.” I have been a big fan of late-night tv for a very long time and I’ve never seen a performance like this played on television. I mean, they had a freaking mosh pit. Seriously one of the coolest performances on tv in history for the rock/metal genres. Maybe the Grammy’s could learn something from it.

We Are Not Your Kind comes out on August 9th. Pre-order the new album from Slipknot here. Don’t forget to grab tickets for the Knotfest Roadshow this summer in Kansas City to see the new tunes live!
