Underoath Tore Down Kansas City

If you missed this show, you missed a lot.

Underoath made their comeback a couple years ago with a reunion tour and then released a new record for the first time in eight years earlier this year. These guys haven’t missed a beat.

They’re currently on the Erase Me Tour with Dance Gavin Dance, Crown the Empire, and The Plot in You. They started the tour back up on Saturday with back to back nights in Denver. I wish that Kansas City sold well enough to have two shows, but that was not the case this time around. I got to spend some time with Spencer Chamberlain, the lead singer of Underoath, as well as some of the other members about the turn out for the show. They spoke about how Kansas City was their worst selling show of the whole tour. They sold about 50% of tickets. Spencer reassured me that the lack of people in the room wouldn’t stop them from putting on a full show.

Spencer wasn’t lying. Underoath put on one of the best shows that I’ve been to in a long time. This was biggest production they’ve ever head and one of the best set lists they’ve ever performed. The LED video boards add a lot to their performance as does the energy of the entire band. Aaron does an awesome job on vocals while drumming at the same time, Spencer can really keep a crowd going, Christopher has so much energy while doing the programming and keys, and James, Grant and Timothy are all great at interacting with the crowd while they play. They put on an amazing show. Unfortunately for anyone that didn’t get a ticket to the show, that might’ve been your last chance to see them in the Kansas City area for awhile. They’ve played in the area several times over the last couple of years and will more than likely be skipping over us the next time around. If you were there, you enjoyed an amazing show and you were in the best place to be in Kansas City on Tuesday.

Underoath’s set list including classic tracks that fans that have been there since the start of it all could sing along with as well as ones of their new record Erase Me, which came out earlier this year.

Check out some of the photos I took while at the show!
