Capital City Crushers Kick Off 2019 Season This Weekend

Capital City Crushers

There has recently been a flurry of sports teams popping up in Topeka lately… We’ve got the Pilots for hockey, and this Spring, we’ll have arena football with the Kapitals. But what you may not realize is that there is also Roller Derby. It’s true, the Capital City Crushers.

They joined the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) in the Spring of ’18 and have been rockin’ the rink since 2007. The Crushers are Topeka’s only Roller Derby Team and a diverse group of hard-playing women that are also wives, mothers, girlfriends, nurses, social workers, managers and students that find time to get out on the track and kick some ass!

This weekend (March 2, 2019) is their HOME OPENER! There will be roller girls, beer and Girl Scout Cookies! Kind of sounds like the perfect party. The Crushers will take on the Tulsa Roughnecks and after the bout, there’s an after-party at Riegel’s 20’s West Bar & Grill.

Doors open at 5:30, game starts at 5:45. The Crushers invite you to stay after and take “super sweaty after pictures” with your favorite derby player! You can get tickets at Sk8away or from a Crushers team member. Advanced Tickets: $8 Adults/ $6 Kids 12 and under…  At the Door: $10 Adults/ $8 Kids 12 and under.
