Rock on the Range Day 1 Recap

Ethan interviewing Breaking Benjamin

Rock on the Range 2018 kicked off with a sold out Friday and it’s the best Friday we’ve ever had.

Day 1 of Rock on the Range was jam packed with a killer lineup of bands from Greta Van Fleet all the way to Alice in Chains. There wasn’t a dull moment all weekend, but Friday definitely packed the most punch.

Highlights

  1. Greta Van Fleet – I expected for these guys to be good, but I didn’t want to set my standards too high just in case they disappointed, they are a new band after all. Thankfully, I was blown away. This band has so much raw talent and passion for the music they make and it comes through not only on their EPs, but also during their performance on stage. 2. Breaking Benjamin – These guys are probably my favorite band to see in a live setting. They’ve been doing it for years and have so much energy on stage. They love to interact with the crowd and at Rock on the Range they brought some amazing surprises, including fire! You could say that they really brought the heat. Check out my interview with a couple of the guys below!
  3. Alice in Chains – Last, but most certainly not least, these guys headlined the show Friday night and absolutely brought it. Going in to the festival I wasn’t quite sure what I would think of their live performance, but they did not disappoint.
  4. Machine Gun Kelly – A lot of people are skeptical about rap artists when they are booked for the largest rock festival in the country, but MGK had a massive crowd watching him crush it on the main stage at Rock on the Range. In fact, MGK might have been the biggest surprise of the weekend. He performed with a full band and even played the guitar himself. I gained a lot of respect for him because he didn’t just use a backing track like most rappers these days.
